Chimney cleaning price: what is included from €100

• One flue: a look at the heating appliance and the flue pipe, cleaning the flue with brushes and rods from the top or from the bottom, removing the soot through the cleaning doors and checking the draught.
• The certificate: the location and description of the flue, the cleaner's name, their qualification document and a statement on the result of the work, as the fire safety regulations require.
• Call-out in Riga and the Riga region: you do not pay separately for the journey to Mārupe, Ķekava, Ādaži, Jelgava or Ķegums.

Cleaning usually costs €100–130. The price moves towards the top of the range for a tall or hard-to-reach chimney, a flue that has not been cleaned for a long time with a thick layer of soot, or a complicated flue pipe. The price does not include cleaning additional flues, removing a thick tar layer, a technical condition report or repairs. We name their prices before the work.

What the price is made up of

• The number of flues and ventilation ducts: how many flues and ducts at one address need cleaning or checking.
• The length and diameter of the flue: the number of storeys, bends, a narrow or oval channel.
• The height of the chimney and access to the roof: a steep or slippery roof, no ladder, the need for a lift.
• The fuel and the type of appliance: wood, pellets, coal or gas; a stove, fireplace, cooker or boiler.
• The amount of soot and tar: how long the flue has gone uncleaned, whether wet wood has been burned.
• Materials: the liner, insulation, cap, bricks and mortar are charged separately.
• Whether several jobs are done on one visit, for example cleaning and a technical condition inspection.

If damage is found during cleaning, the price of the repair or liner is named separately, and the work starts only once you agree to it.

Chimney sweep's condition report: price

For a chimney sweep's condition report, that is, a technical condition inspection certificate, we name the price for your situation. The certificate is drawn up on the official form, with a drawing of the flue layout and photos or video attached, and for each flue it states whether it meets the requirements. That is why the price depends on the number of flues and ventilation ducts, the fuel, access to the roof and whether the inspection is done together with cleaning. The Latvian Insurers Association advises keeping certificates and invoices, and cleaning and a technical condition inspection need two documents, each for its own job. Fitting a chimney liner: price

We name the price for fitting a liner after measuring the flue. It depends on the length of the flue (how many storeys), the diameter, whether the channel is round or oval, whether a plain or insulated liner is needed and whether the old channel has to be widened. Access to the roof also matters, and so does the appliance the liner is for: a gas boiler, a pellet boiler or a wood stove. Materials are charged separately. Repair, installation, camera inspection and ventilation

• Chimney repair: the price depends on how many rows of bricks need rebuilding, whether rendering is enough, whether a new crown slab or cap is needed, and how easy it is to reach the chimney on the roof.
• Chimney installation: the price depends on the height and diameter of the chimney, whether the outlet goes through the roof or the wall, the fuel and the chosen system.
• Camera inspection: the price depends on the length and bends of the flue, the number of flues and whether a recording is needed for the inspection certificate or for choosing a liner.
• Ventilation duct cleaning: the price depends on the number of ducts and whether they are checked on the same visit as the flues.

Why we do not publish prices for these jobs

Latvian chimney sweeps hardly ever publish prices for lining, repair, installation and condition reports, and there is a reason for that. Two similar chimneys can need completely different work: for one it is enough to replace the cap, for another the whole head above the roof has to be rebuilt. If we wrote a single figure, it would either be too low and change later, or too high for most customers.

So we do it differently. Describe the situation in the form, and the specialist names the price after a conversation or an inspection, before the work starts.

4. A flue not cleaned for a long time, with a thick tar layer Cleaning: from €100. Tar removal: depends on the job, because it depends on the thickness of the layer. We name the price before the work.
5. A new gas boiler in an old brick chimney Inspection and a certificate on whether the boiler may be connected to the flue: depends on the job. If a liner is needed, we name its price after measuring; materials are charged separately.
