Two sides of Daugavgrīva: heating plant buildings and small houses

Daugavgrīva has its own district heating zone with a heating plant at Lēpju iela 4, where two 4 MW wood chip boilers have been running since 2021. This zone is not connected to the Bolderāja network. In low-rise houses: deadlines and changing the heating

• Wood stove with masonry mass: cleaning by 1 November.
• Boiler, metal stove, sauna stove: by 1 November and a second time between 1 November and 1 March.
• Gas appliance flue: brick once a year, lined or metal once every two years.
• Solid fuel flue: technical condition inspection once every five years.

According to the 2025 zoning map, Daugavgrīva is in Riga's heat supply zone III. If you replace an old stove or boiler with a new one using the same fuel, Riga rules allow an ecodesign appliance of up to 50 kW in all zones, which must be registered with the Riga Energy Agency. A new appliance needs a certificate on whether it may be connected to the flue.
