For houses we clean stove and boiler chimneys, for businesses flues with a certificate. Cleaning one flue costs from €100.
Houses along the dyke
About 210 people live in Voleri, and the houses here are small, with one or two storeys. If a house is not connected to the heating network, it has its own chimney with a stove, cooker or heating boiler connected to it. A masonry stove is cleaned once a year by 1 November, a boiler and a metal stove once more between 1 November and 1 March.
If the house has one dwelling, the owner may clean a solid-fuel flue themselves, and then no certificate is needed. In a two-storey house with two flats a certificate is always needed. More: chimney sweep for a private house.

Low land by the river
The Voleri area is low, by the Daugava, and the closeness of the river sets the moisture conditions. For a masonry chimney this means that moisture can build up at the chimney base and by the cleaning door, especially if the house has not been heated for a while. When cleaning, we check whether there is water or a layer of damp soot at the bottom and whether the bricks by the door are crumbly.
If moisture regularly builds up in the flue, the cause may also be the appliance: low-temperature smoke condenses in an old channel. About this: condensation in a chimney.
How cleaning works in a small house
- Preparation The stove or boiler is not lit from the evening before, and the space by the stove and the cleaning door is cleared.
- Channels from the top If the chimney can be reached safely, we sweep the channels from the top with brushes on rods or a weight. If not, we work from below and from the attic.
- Stove and cooker We open the stove and cooker doors and remove the soot from the flue channels and flue pipes.
- Draught and certificate After cleaning we check the draught and look at the chimney in the attic. In the certificate we write what was cleaned and whether there is any damage.
In a small house one chimney often serves both a stove and a cooker, each with its own channel. The price is per flue, so we confirm the number of channels before the work. More about stoves: stove and fireplace cleaning.
Port, warehouses and production
In the port and industrial areas of Voleri there are buildings with heating appliances and boiler houses. A business needs a certificate for every cleaning, and solid and liquid-fuel flues also need a technical condition inspection with photos or video once every five years. Gas appliances need servicing and inspection every year.
Access is restricted in some zones, so in your request tell us how to get onto the site and who will meet us. More: chimney sweep for a business.

If you change your heating
In all zones the Riga heat supply rules ban new coal, peat and liquid-fuel appliances. In a private house an existing appliance may be replaced with a new ecodesign appliance of up to 50 kW using the same fuel. Other changes need approval from the municipal Heat Supply Commission, and appliances must be registered with the Riga Energy Agency. When a boiler is replaced, it is checked whether the new boiler may be connected to the old flue before it is used, and a certificate is drawn up: technical condition report.

Access and price
Voleri is reached along Daugavgrīvas šoseja and the port access roads. In your request, tell us whether you can drive up to the house, where to park and whether the chimney can be reached over the roof or only from the attic.
Chimney or flue cleaning with a certificate costs from €100, usually €100–130, with the call-out included. We clean stove flue channels for the same price, from €100. A technical condition report and repairs are priced for your situation. If we find damage, we quote the repair separately and do it only after you agree. All prices: prices.
