In detached houses the heat comes from the owners' own gas or firewood boiler or stove, and there we clean and check the flues. Cleaning one flue costs from €100, and the cleaning certificate and the call-out to Vangaži are included.
The Vangaži heating network and gas network
The Ropaži municipality civil protection plan (approved 27.11.2024) states that district heating in Vangaži is provided by SIA “Vangažu sildspēks”: 50 buildings, 2,000 subscribers and 9 legal entities. The boiler houses mainly burn wood pellets, wood chips and natural gas.
The same plan names Vangaži among the nine settlements in the municipality with a gas network, used for heating and household needs, including heating individual houses. The plan also warns that many existing low-pressure pipes cannot take extra load, and a new connection may require rebuilding the pipe at the customer's expense.

Flats with a gas cooker: ventilation once every five years
A flat on the heating network usually has no flue, but it has a ventilation duct in the kitchen, bathroom and toilet. If the kitchen has a gas cooker or the flat has a gas water heater, the duct is cleaned and checked at least once every five years; in other rooms once every 10 years. In an apartment building a certificate is drawn up after every cleaning and check.
In a room with a gas appliance, well-working ventilation is a safety matter, not just a question of damp. During the check we measure the draught at the grilles and check whether a kitchen extractor hood has been connected to the duct and is disturbing other flats. In Ropaži municipality apartment buildings (accepted into service by 31.12.1999, with at least four flats) can get municipal co-funding for energy audit and technical survey documents. More: ventilation check in an apartment building.

A gas boiler in a private house
A gas boiler is serviced and checked once a year. A brick flue is checked once a year, a lined, ceramic or metal one once every two years. If the boiler has been switched off for longer than six months, an extraordinary check with a certificate is needed before it is switched on.
If a wood stove or boiler in an old house is replaced with a gas boiler, you need a certificate on whether the new appliance may be connected to the existing flue before the new boiler is used. A masonry channel is often too wide and cold for a gas boiler, condensation forms in it, and the masonry gets damp. Then a stainless steel liner matching the boiler outlet is fitted. Gaso's simplified procedure for replacing gas appliances also requires a certificate on the condition of the flue channel and the ventilation ducts.
More: chimney check for a gas boiler, liner for a gas boiler and gas boiler flue.

Wood stoves and boilers in the wooded surroundings
Vangaži is surrounded by forests and the Gauja basin. In a detached house heated with firewood, a masonry stove is cleaned once a year, by 1 November; a firewood boiler, metal stove and sauna stove twice, the second time between 1 November and 1 March. Once every five years solid-fuel appliances and flues need a technical condition inspection with a certificate on the official form. More: chimney sweep for a house and chimney sweep's condition report.
Ropaži municipality rules on burning branches
The Ropaži municipality waste regulations, in force since 25.08.2026, forbid burning household waste and biowaste. Broken and pruned branches may be burned on your own land all year round if the wind is below 10 m/s and the bonfire is at least 20 m from buildings, the forest and the neighbour's boundary (unless the neighbour has agreed otherwise in writing). The bonfire must be watched at all times, no more than 1 m³ may be burned at a time, and it is not done on Sundays and public holidays. The permitted time is from 10.00 to 19.00.
A bonfire must be 20 m from buildings, but a stove is inside the house, so branches and garden waste are not stove fuel. Burn dry firewood, pellets and briquettes in a stove and boiler, otherwise tar builds up in the flue: chimney tar removal.

Route and price in Vangaži
Vangaži is on the A2 and the railway, and access to houses depends on the highway and the railway crossings. In the request, give the street and, if the house is outside town, the settlement, because Ropaži municipality is large and Inčukalns is already a different municipality.
Chimney cleaning in Vangaži costs from €100 per flue, usually €100–130, including the certificate and the call-out. Cleaning a stove, fireplace or boiler flue costs the same. A liner, a gas boiler flue check, ventilation ducts and the condition report are priced for your situation: the price depends on the length and diameter of the flue, the height and access to the roof and the materials.
